And we can only hope that pere e fil Murdoch are next. . .

I made a comment in OPOL'S terrific diary, which seems to have hit a nerve.

Our government, for some reason, many of us find deeply offensive, has not seen fit  to arrest or prosecute even one Wall Street 'bankster'for the crimes of defrauding the American people, and collapsing the U.S. and world economies.

Interesting how a few big people (51+ / 0-)

get arrested in Britain in the Murdoch hacking scandal.  Nice to see Rebecca Brooks take a hit today.

But we Americans  don't arrest even one bankster responsible for the catastrophe we are all witnessing now.

Everyone has an explanation.  Can you imagine if Robert Rubin, Allen Greenspan,  Phil Gramm or Lawrence Summers had been arrested.

There have been no criminal prosecutions because such an endeavor would open a hornet's nest.  If law enforcement became involved, it would expose the sordid and deadly collusion between the corporations which run this country and both political parties, members of Congress, the U.S. Senate--the entire political elite.  Here's another reason.

Our very own, and very brilliant Dallasdoc has the end of our democracy neatly summarized in several horrific comments well worth repeating here.

... which kept the Powers That Be in power.  People won't get desperate enough to get out in the streets to make change happen until they've lost more, in greater numbers.  And until somebody gives them an enemy to blame it on which makes sense.

Barack Obama never fingered the guilty parties, but instead protects and serves them.  It takes a Scott Walker to twist the mustache enough to make a real identifiable villain.  It's going to be a terrible tragedy when we get one of those in the White House, but I fear Obama's choices have made that inevitable.

DC politicians don't realize they're corrupt for the same reason fish don't realize they're wet.

And this.

Hello Eve, my friend (23+ / 0-)

I don't think of them as the shadow government, I think of them as the Board of Directors of America Inc.  They've already accomplished a hostile takeover of our democracy, and they're allowing the forms and traditions to continue, after a fashion, kind of like Rupert Murdoch allowed some actual journalism to occur at the Wall Street Journal after he swallowed it whole.  Corrupted, misdirected, constrained within tight bounds, but some journalism nonetheless.  Same with our government, I fear.

It's going to take Madison x 10,000 to get this government back in the people's hands, and much blood will be shed in the taking.  It's tragic that it's come to this, but power concedes nothing without a demand.  And some human sacrifice.

DC politicians don't realize they're corrupt for the same reason fish don't realize they're wet.
