These two videos of violent NYPD crowd control using horses to ram into non-violent protesters (the second video is below the fold) deserve viral attention.
The videos shows in horrifying detail what peaceful protestors were enduring on the East side of 47th Street. It was blood curdling to watch this unfold from across the street and imagine what was happening to these people. Well now we know. It's awful.
Right in the beginning, you hear a man saying "they just charged horses at people." This is what we saw happening from across the street.
Then a little later, listen to the man screaming to the police, "what is wrong with you?" imploring them, to no avail, to exercise some restraint. Then listen some more to people screaming, "we're human beings". Then the crowd starts to chant, "get the horses out of here".
This is what I was watching from across the street--the West side of 47th Street. This video is from right behind the front lines on the East side of 47th Street. The police essentially bunch the horses (these poor animals being used as weapons), together, almost as a huge battering ram, and then move them rapidly into the people.
They brought horses in, to ram the protesters. They used the horses as weapons and you can hear and see the people shrieking for the police to stand down, which of course they didn't do. And as you see, the horses were assisted by the riot troops
This show of brutality is even worse than what we got across the street, with the Motorcycle cops ramming the barricades.
I know I don't have to remind anyone that horses are used to intimidate and frighten. And it is very frightening to be penned in behind these huge animals.
They were used by supporters of the regime in Egypt.
And NYPD is using them in New York City.
